Using the art and science of psychotherapy to drive leadership and business performance

Grooving with Berklee and Green Consulting

Since January this year I’ve been a student at Berklee School of Music. I have had a guitar since I was 12 years old and I finally decided to learn how to play it to the best of my ability. Berklee’s on-line school has taught me much about being a student again (homework, late assignments) and the rich educational experience afforded by the web. I signed up for a Semester of scales. Each week a combination of Quick Time demonstration videos, scales in Flash, PDF’s of the assignment and MP3’s to play along with, as well as weekly chats, take me through the course. Having nearly finished my first Semester I began thinking about the Berklee model for a more ‘Green’ approach to consulting.

The economic downturn has impacted many companies T&E. CISCO have slashed their travel budget and have commented that it will remain lean even after the economy has returned to so-called normal levels. At Rowley Assoc we have been thinking what we could do to embrace Green Consulting. My own carbon footprint is huge – I usually spend at least 38 to 40 weeks of every year flying to the West Coast, Europe and Asia. Berklee has given us several ideas we will be implementing over the coming months. These include ‘Teletherapy’, using the phone and video-conferencing to work with clients, as well as investing in Flash for elearning opportunities. We will keep you updated on our progress.
