In any six-month period a manager can expect to lose or have to integrate several new team members. This churn can stall momentum, delay execution and impact relationships. As a result, teams and organizations struggle to perform at high levels.

At Rowley Associates we recognize that teams have to be able to adjust easily to frequent organizational changes as well as the disruption caused by market forces. Our definition of a successful team is one that is resilient – able to absorb changes in personnel and strategy whilst maintaining focus and delivering results.

Our 4-step method to creating high performing, resilient teams include:

Measure – the current capability of your team

Set Direction – creating a shared understanding of vision, objectives, metrics, meaning and accountability

Build relationships – Resilience is a combination of the belief in the direction of the team and the quality of relationships between team members

Reach out – Most teams recognize that morale is important and customer satisfaction essential but only a few understand that reaching out to internal company partners and stakeholders is critical. Resilient teams are integrated and have good quality, productive relationships with internal partners and stakeholders

Self-Awareness – Do you know how your behavior impacts others? Do you often ask for feedback on your performance? Leaders with high self-awareness are unusually aware of how their behavior effects others and are able to adapt their actions to bring out the best in whatever person or situation they are dealing with at any time.

Confidence – Do you stand up for you ideas even if they are unpopular or express confidence that goals will be achieved? Confidence determines our relationship with success. Do we avoid it or embrace it? Our confidence impacts our passion, whether we boldly move forward or hold back, and the quality of the decisions we make.

Power and Ambition – Do you use expert power or do you rely more on the power inherent in your role? It’s not enough to be in command; you have to feel in command. Power can inspire and encourage or create fear and uncertainty.

Trust. – Do you manage expectations? Do you find it hard to trust? When people trust each other and their leaders they can work through disagreements faster, take smarter risks, work harder, have greater loyalty, and contribute better ideas.

Belief – What do you believe in? Our beliefs shape our perceptions of our world, influence how we make decisions, what we pay attention to and what we choose to ignore. Beliefs also shape our Brand.

Our program can be run for intact teams, businesses or virtually.

This web-based survey is quick to administer, simple to complete, yet powerful in its ability to diagnose where to focus your efforts to get the most bang for your training dollar. The diagnostic measures:

Belief and commitment to strategy

Trust and conflict

Expectations of leadership

Team promoter score – level of attachment to, and degree of evangelism of the team

Perceptions of the teams brand

Barriers to success

The outcome of the diagnostic is a bespoke report summarizing the data, how you stack rank against other teams, and an action plan describing the steps you can take to improve the performance and resilience of you team.
